Mourinho-to-Man United could be the worst kept secret in the history of football, as new confirmations and hints continue to emerge every day.

Inter Milan director Bedy Moratti has confirmed that former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is heading to Manchester United as Van Gaal’s replacement. This comes just a few days after former Spurs coach Harry Redknapp confirmed that the controversial manager would succeed the embattled Man United boss.

The former Chelsea boss has been linked with the Old Trafford job on several occasions this season after a series poor results from the Red Devils under Louis Van Gaal, most recently their 2-1 loss in the hands of Midtjylland in the UEFA Europa League.

Speaking to journalists, Moratti, sister of former Inter Milan president Massimo, revealed that the Portuguese tactician would join the Red Devils but she did not specify the exact date or month. When asked whether the former Inter manager was coming back to San Siro, she explained:

“No, he’s happy now, he’s going to Manchester.

“Of course he’s always fantastic and we missed him as a person here.”

Earlier this week, Mourinho had been linked with a move back to the Italian giants but he was quick to clear the air regarding the speculations. In an interview with La Stampa, he clarified:

“My next challenge, my next club? I really don’t know.

“I just know that I love football and I will be back with the same passion and ambition as ever, having during this period a respectful behaviour to every manager and every club.

“I don’t search for clubs, clubs search for me.”

He then added:

"I go for a day in Milan to personally say thanks to my president Mister Moratti.

“I left Inter in 2010 and since then work was hard every day in Madrid and Chelsea, and it was difficult to find a moment to have lunch with the Moratti family.

“We agreed on this Saturday a few weeks ago, and yes, after a family day we will go to San Siro, with an ‘Interista’ spirit, with the hope and the happiness to see Inter win.

“It will be a great emotion for me – San Siro and the Interisti - but let me make it clear... I will not be Inter manager next season.

“Inter has a project, a project that belongs to Mister Thohir and Mister Roberto Mancini, a project that I totally support and wish will end in success."

The Express also reports that Louis Van Gaal has been given three days to save his job at Old Trafford starting with their FA Cup fixture against Shrewsbury on Monday. Thereafter, the Red Devils will host their bitter rivals the Gunners for their Premier League fixture.
