The left back missed Saturday's game against Athletic Bilbao due to a dislocated shoulder, but he made it just in time to play the first game of the K.O stage.

Zinedine Zidane will have one of the team's captains available for the crucial match against Roma this week, as Brazilian left back Marcelo recovered just in time from a dislocated shoulder.

The 27-year old has played four of Real Madrid's six matches so far in the competition, with key performances against Paris Saint Germain and Shakhtar Donetsk. He is yet to score his first goal of the season in the European tournament.

The team's Twitter feed shared a few pictures from today's training session, with Marcelo performing some drills with his team-mates.

Despite the good news about Marcelo, Los Blancos will be missing a couple of key players for the first UCL clash of 2016. Gareth Bale and Pepe were not able to recover from their injuries, and will keep working to make their way back to fitness in Madrid's training facility at Valdebebas.

The Portuguese defender could make it back for next week's clash against Malaga, while the Welshman may have to sit out for one more game, with his return date set for Madrid's derby against Atlético.

The team revealed the names of the players travelling to Roma via their Twitter feed.
