Barcelona have ruled out a possible move for Arsenal midfield wizard, according to a Spanish newspaper.

Spanish La Liga giants FC Barcelona have denied rumors linking them with a move for Arsenal star Mesut Ozil.

The Germany international was rumoured to be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium to the Nou Camp. Ozil was a former Real Madrid player and the much-publicized move to the Nou Camp would refuel the rivalry between the two Spanish giants to bitter levels.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo have reported that the Blaugrana had contacted them to deny the rumors linking them with a move for German midfielder. According to the publication, the La Liga defending champions have not been in contact with Ozil since his departure from Real Madrid and have no interest whatsoever in signing him.

The 27–year-old is yet to sign a new contract with the Gunners, but The Express reports that he could pen a five-year deal before the end of the season.

Ozil has been instrumental for the Gunners this season, having provided 17 assists in the Premier League. His latest assist provided the much-needed goal for Arsene Wenger's men against Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Danny Welbeck netted the all-important goal from Ozil's cross to revive Arsenal's hope of winning the Premier League title for the first time in over a decade.
