Leicester City players have their boss to thank despite losing their Premier League match against Arsenal.

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has kept his promise to give his players a week off after the 2-1 defeat in the hands of the Gunners.

The Daily Mail reports that the Italian tactician had promised his players that he would give them a week off if they beat Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal. Despite losing to Arsene Wenger’s men, the Foxes managed to beat the Citizens and the Reds, and their manager believes that the deal is as good as done.

The Premier League title contenders will be granted a week off to spend it as they wish, given that they will not be in action in the FA Cup next weekend. The former Chelsea boss now wants his players to relax and think about the upcoming fixtures in the Premier League as they continue with the quest to win the coveted title. It should be remembered that the Italian also allowed his players to take some days off in Copenhagen last Christmas, something that could be attributed to their good performance this season.

Speaking during a post-match interview, the 64-year-old tactician said:

''We make a little gamble with my players and they say to me, “If we make nine points (against Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal) will you give us one week away?''

''Now we make just six points but in my mind I said, “OK”. I was happy with one point from City and one point today, only two points and we achieved three.

''I said “OK, it’s the same as if you won the match. Go home and we will see you next Monday.” They deserve it. They made a fantastic performance today.

''I don't know where they go, Dubai maybe? They go wherever they want. (I will spend) one day in London and then I go to Rome.’'

The Foxes will continue with their title chase when they welcome Norwich City at the King Power Stadium on February 27, 2016.
