The Portuguese believes that, when the tournament comes, it will be time to stop playing football at the top level.

One day after assuring he will live up to his contract with Real Madrid, Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo discussed when he intends to hang his boots for good. Los Blancos' all-time top scorer believes that he should say goodbye to competitive football when the 2022 World Cup ends, according to an interview with beIN Sports.

"Very good, for me. I expect Qatar could be my final World Cup. I often go on holidays there, to Qatar as well as Dubai. I am happy because for sure it will be last international tournament," Ronaldo stated.

CR7 has already beaten all goal scoring records with the Portuguese National Team, and his presence with A Selecção das Quinas up until then could mean his tally endures as a hard-to-break record.

Ronaldo is ranked second among La Liga's top strikers this seaon behind Barcelona's Luis Suárez.

"I want to play two more years here"-- CR7

After being handed the Pichichi award by Diario Marca on Monday, the Portuguese ace hinted he intends to leave Real Madrid after his contract ends in the 2017-2018 season. Even if his stint with Los Blancos has been quite successful, CR7 seems to be ready to take on another challenge .

"Even after playing in the Premier League, I can say La Liga is the most competitive league in the world. You have good teams and excellent players. I want to keep playing here for two more years, and then we'll let fate decide. I'm talking about the two years left in my contract," Ronaldo stated.

Heavily linked to a move away from Los Blancos this summer, the Portuguese ace will apparently live up to his contract with Real Madrid. Only time will tell if Florentino Pérez offers him a contract extension, making him retire with the Spanish giants as he promised a while ago.
