According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, the former Brazil international rejected a deal that would have seen him join Premier League title contenders Leicester City this season. The report further claims that the 35-year-old opted to move to China for a big money deal, which is yet to materialize.
The newspaper claims that Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri approached the former Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan star in January for a possible move to England but he rejected the offer. The Foxes are currently on top of the Premier League table after dismissing Liverpool 2-0 at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.
Ronaldinho, famously known as Gaucho, has been without a club since September 29, 2015 when he left his former club Fluminense. He is one of the most decorated players in history, something that would make him a huge signing for The Foxes.
Some of his most notable achievements in his glittering career include winning the Ballon d’Or twice, European player of the year once, Spanish Super Cup twice with Barcelona, La Liga title twice with Barcelona, the FIFA World Cup once with Brazil, The FIFA Confederations Cup with Brazil, the Serie A title with AC Milan, and the UEFA Champions League once with Barcelona.
Here is now football fans on Twitter reacted to the news:
