Two big names could follow the Spanish tactician to the Etihad in the summer.

English Premier League giants Manchester City announced that Pep Guardiola would be taking over the club from Manuel Pellegrini in the summer, dropping the news on the January transfer window deadline day.

With Guardiola’s next destination now known, it was expected for several Bayern Munich players to be tipped to follow the Spaniard; however, two big names have been linked with a move to the Etihad as early as the very next day.

One is goalscoring machine Robert Lewandowski, a man despite enjoying tremendous success since his move to the Allianz Arena – where he won FOUR Guinness World Records in one match – has long been tipped with an exit.

La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are rumored favorites to land the Polish forward, with Karim Benzema’s future at Santiago Bernabeu in question over his legal battles; nonetheless, the Citizens are ready to battle Los Blancos for the former BVB attacker’s services.

The 27-year-old is believed to be keen on a Real Madrid switch, but having worked with Guardiola and their two-year relationship may tip the scales in Man City’s favor.

Pep has reportedly promised die Roten that he will not raid the club, but according to The Sun, his soon-to-be employers will enter the race for Lewandowski should Bayern open talks with Real Madrid over their star attacker.

A fee in the region of £75m is believed to be enough to sign Lewandowski, but due to the absence of a buyout clause in his contract with Bayern, the German giants could hold out for more money.

The British tabloid also claim that Man City will step up their interest in Lionel Messi, a player whom Pep Guardiola has manager before, but Lewandowski remains the realistic option.

Another key figure in the reigning Bundesliga champions’ starting XI that is being watched by Manchester City is full-back David Alaba, who is rated at £35m, whilst the arrival of Guardiola could see the Citizens finally make a concrete move for £70m Juve superstar Paul Pogba, as speculated in the report by The Sun.
