Lionel Messi helped out Barcelona once again when they needed him the most, scoring the game's equalizer against Atlético with a well placed left footed strike. Later in the game, Luis Suárez scored the second goal for Los Blaugranas before the end of the first half to set things straight for the current La Liga champions.
Curiously enough, Messi's goal helped him reach the 1000th goal mark adding his goals to those scored by Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese striker has scored 518 goals, while Messi has sent the ball into the back of the net 482 times.
