FA Cup action returns this weekend with Aston Villa hosting Manchester City at Villa Park.

Manchester City come into this fixture after booking their place in the final of the Capital One Cup, where they will face bitter rivals Liverpool. The Citizens are in contention to win a quadruple this season (Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Capital One Cup) and they are expected to prove their title-winning intentions by beating Aston Villa away from home on Saturday. Although they have not had a smooth ride to reach where they are now, Manuel Pellgrini’s men still have a huge chance of winning at least half of the titles they are in contention for this season.

On one hand, Manchester City are still rumoured to be interested in hiring the highly-experienced Pep Guardiola to take over from Pellegrini, who has been blowing hot and cold this season. However, after overturning a two-goal deficit last Wednesday in the League Cup against an equally-good side such as Everton, the Citizens can still dismiss Aston Villa.

The Argentine was on target when his side dismissed Everton in the League Cup semi-finals on Wednesday and before that, he was also on target when City drew 2-2 away at West Ham last weekend. Given the fact that he has now scored seven goals in seven games for the Premier League giants, one could easily expect him to lead his side past Villa. The Sky Blues have won this competition five times in their history and will be hoping to extend it to six this season.Otamendi in action for Manchester City On the other hand, Villa are undefeated in their last five matches. They beat League Two side Wycombe Wanderers, and gathered four points at home from Cystal Palace and Leicester City. They then drew against West Bromwich Albion. The Villans have not confirmed any new signings this season, despite the fact that they are firm relegation candidates in the Premier League. They have lost a total of five players, either permanently or on loan; most recently Philippe Sendros, yet they have not signed anyone as the transfer window prepares to close. Although they have won the FA Cup a total of seven times compared to City’s five, it will take a miracle for Remi Garde’s men to cruise past the Premier League big guns.
