Ronaldinho is set to entertain his fans at Barcelona, but not the Spanish giants that everyone would think of.

World football legend Ronaldinho has agreed to play for Barcelona, but this time round, it will not be the Spanish giants that he once played for. The 35-year-old has, instead, reportedly agreed to play for Ecuadorian giants Barcelona SC in a friendly tie against Universidad San Martin-PER.

His brother Roberto de Assis, who also doubles up as his agent, confirmed the news on Twitter:

The match is usually known as ‘Noche Amarilla’ which means ‘Yellow Night’ and dates back to 1995. It will be held to give Barcelona the opportunity to present their new players to the fans before the beginning of the season.

The club director Juan Alfredo Cuentas told Super K 800 radio station that the idea to have Ronaldinho feature in the much-anticipated match was generated from social media. However, although the Ecuador Serie A giants have not officially confirmed the final details of the game, the director claimed that they were close to striking a deal with the legendary footballer. During the interview, he said:

''We are in talks but it is very far advanced and we have already coordinated flights and travel."

When asked about the possibility of the former AC Milan man signing for the Ecuador side, he clarified:

''In no moment will Ronaldinho sign with Barcelona. There is no negotiation.’’

According to his agent, Ronaldinho, famously known as Gaucho, could return to Fluminense, the club he played for between July and September after parting ways with Liga MX club Queretaro.
