According to the English striker, the north London giants have finally assembled a squad worthy of challenging for the league crown.

According to Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott, the Gunners have their eyes firm on the English Premier League crowd, ahead of their highly-anticipated London derby with Chelsea.

Arsene Wenger’s boys will welcome the Blues to the Emirates Stadium this weekend having lost their grip on the lead to Leicester, but could wrestle it back from the Foxes should they grab all three points in Sunday’s game.

This is something that Theo is confident this current batch of Arsenal players can deliver, alongside a serious challenge for the league crown, hailing this squad as the team he has long been waiting.

"This is the team I've been waiting to be part of," said the 26-year-old.

"It was only a point, but in the past, in games like Stoke, we would have failed to deliver, now we're not getting pushed away.

"A big club like Arsenal should be winning lot more than we have but we have to look to the present. We've won two FA Cups in the past two seasons, now we want the big one."

Walcott recently celebrated 10 years at Arsenal; however, despite his long service for the Gunners, the player once tipped as “the next Thierry Henry” has never quite reached his full potential due to several injuries.

Nonetheless, the Three Lions forward admitted that this was not an issue that weighed heavily on his mind, saying:

"It's important not to think like that.

"You can't think that without the injuries I could have been this or that. The knee injury, missing the [2014] World Cup, it was hard to deal with mentally.

"But my little boy came at the same time, that took my mind off it and gave me an incentive to get back as I was."
