Things are not working out for Lous Van Gaal and Manchester United, an Southampton took advantage of that by putting up a solid performance to win 1-0. Following a first half in which neither team showed the drive to take all the points home, new boy Charlie Austin came from the bench to score the game-winning goal for Ronald Koeman's crew.
Austin said goodbye to his QPR team-mates to enjoy top flight football, and he made the most out of the chance to play at Old Trafford, scoring nine minutes after coming into the pitch with a well-placed header. With this win, Southampton keeps on fighting for European football spots with 33 points, while Manchester United hopes West Ham doesn't win in order to keep their fifth spot.
After such a baffling performance, fans mocked every single aspect of the game, even a mouse's presence on the pitch. Here are some of their best comments about the game's outcome.
