The Gunners have offloaded one of their youthful players to Southend United up to the end of the season.

English Premier League title contenders Arsenal FC have sent midfielder Glen Kamara to Southend United on loan until the end of the season, reports BBC Sport.

The 20-year-old was signed by the Gunners in 2012 from Southend’s youth academy. However, Southend manager Phil Brown has admitted that he has been a long-time admirer of the youthful midfielder and would love to bring him back to Roots Hall, albeit temporarily.

The Finnish midfielder made his debut for Arsenal in the Capital One Cup against Sheffield Wednesday back in October 2015.  Glen Kamara makes his debut for Arsenal against Sheffield United

''We have been chasing Glen for about six weeks now and I’m very pleased to have got the deal done.”

He added:

“It stopped for a little while when Ben Coker got injured and we had to concentrate on bringing in a left-back.''

“But the opportunity presented itself yesterday to get the deal done and, just like the others players we have brought in, I think it will help us improve significantly.”

Arsenal face Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday in a match that could boost or derail their quest to lift the Premier League title for the first time in over a decade.
