Former Man United star Cristiano Ronaldo is set to return to Old Trafford, but the exact day is yet to be confirmed.

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to make a sensational return to Old Trafford, the home of his former club Manchester United. According to The Daily Mirror, FA officials have contacted their Portuguese counterparts about the possibility of staging a EURO 2016 friendly match against England at Old Trafford.

If the Portugal versus England friendly match is staged at the Theatre of Dreams, it would guarantee a sell-out crowd, with the former Man United man being the centre of attraction.

The report further suggests that England manager Roy Hodgson has lined up three warm-up matches at home ahead of the much-anticipated Euro 2016 tournament. The Three Lions could also face Argentina in a match that would be graced by five-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi.

Both Portugal and England are said to have reached an agreement about the possibility of playing a friendly match against each other, but the final details shall be discussed next week in order to choose a suitable date. Hodgson’s men kick off their Euro 2016 campaign against Russia in Marseille on June 11. They will then face their rivals Wales five days later in Lens before finishing their Group B campaign against Slovakia on June 20.
