The World Cup final MVP could re-join his former coach with Borussia Dortmund after falling down the pecking order with Die Roten.

Mario Gotze's stint with Bayern Munich could be living its final moments, as the German midfielder seems to be on his way out of the Bavarian institution.

Die Roten Director Matthias Sammer disclosed that the player who scored Germany's overtime goal against Argentina in the 2014 World Cup final will not have his contract extended with the club anytime soon, furthering rumors of a possible transfer to Liverpool, where he would re-unite with former coach Jürgen Klopp.

Gotze's career flourished under Klopp a few years ago, when Borussia Dortmund reached the top of the Bundesliga with Gotze calling the shots in midfield alongside Ilkay Gundogan. The pair led the yellow-and-black side to the UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich, in which the talented midfielder could not perform due to an injury.

Gotze's contract with Bayern Munich ends in the summer of 2017, and given the midfielder's frequent injury problems, the club would be willing to part ways with him next summer, so they can still earn some cash with his departure. Sources indicate that it will be up to Carlo Ancelotti to decide whether if Gotze remains with Die Roten or not, but it seems that the player's future will be far away from the German giants.
