“Aaron Ramsey, he walks with a limp” was sung at the Britannia Stadium during Sunday’s 0-0 draw.

On Sunday, Stoke City fans disgracefully chanted “Aaron Ramsey, he walks with a limp” during their home clash with league leaders Arsenal.

Much to the dislike of Arsene Wenger, the Welsh midfielder received abuse at the Britannia Stadium, the very same ground where he broke his leg in 2010 due to an awful tackle from Ryan Shawcross.

The Gunners boss was left in disgust by how the former Cardiff City ace was treated, as were many on Twitter, as both sides played out a 0-0 draw.

Now, Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has come out to condemn the fans who sang that disgraceful chant, labeling them as a minority, though he admitted to being unaware of the occurrence.

Speaking to the Guardian, Coates said: “You’re telling me something that I’m completely unaware of. I’ve no idea that chant had taken place, but we wouldn’t approve of it at all.

“I don’t think it’s a minority of fans; I know it’s a minority. People chant all sorts of awful things at all sorts of grounds, which I dislike. But do I approve of that sort of chanting? Of course I don’t.”

After the game, Le Prof vented his frustrations toward Aaron Ramsey’s treatment, claiming that the best way to deal with it is to ignore it completely, something Coates agreed with.

“You go around football grounds and hear some chanting I don’t like. I wish they didn’t do it but how do you control these things? You can’t. The best thing is to shut your ears in a way, like he [Wenger] said: switch off and ignore it as best you can.”
