The draw for the Copa del Rey quarter-final matches has been conducted.

Defending Champions FC Barcelona will face Athletic Bilbao in the quarter finals of this season’s Copa del Rey. The two clubs faced each other last year in the finals and only one of them will make it to this year’s finals after being paired against each other.

The first leg fixture will be held at the San Manes on January 20, and then the Catalans will host the second leg at the Camp Nou a week later.

Speaking about the draw, Barcelona’s director of first-team affairs, Javier Bordas, said:

"Athletic are a great team who can beat anyone. They showed their form against Villarreal [in the last 16].’’

"Barca are always the slight favourites, but we were in the Supercopa and we lost to Athletic then."

Meanwhile, 2013 champions Atletico Madrid face Celta Vigo at the Balaidos for the first leg. The other quarter-final fixtures will see Garry Neville’s Valencia clash with Las Palmas as Sevilla take on Mirandes who surprisingly dismissed Deportivo La Coruna with a 4-1 aggregate.
