Edinson Cavani could be on his way out of Paris Saint-Germain.

English Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal are expected to flex their financial muscles in the fight for Edinson Cavani’s signature.

The PSG star has been told to leave the French giants if he wants to, according to the Independent. The Uruguay international has been in great form for Laurent Blanc’s side but reports from Paris suggest that he is unhappy playing second fiddle to his attack partner Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Cavani is said to be interested in playing as a central striker but Blanc prefers to use him along the flanks, something that seems to limit his potential.

Back in England, Manchester United and Arsenal are in serious hunt for more attacking power, with the latter hoping to win their first Premier League title in a decade. It is for this reason that the two giants are expected to bid for the talented forward, who seems quite unsettled at the French capital.

The 28-year-old has scored 13 goals in 24 appearances for the Parisians this season. He could increase the figure if he plays as a central striker, but with the availability of Ibrahimovic at the Ligue 1, his chances are quite low.

Meanwhile, coach Blanc confirmed that there was a meeting held by the club’s officials to discuss Cavani’s future.

On Wednesday, he told journalists:

“There is a problem with Cavani’s behaviour but my job is to think of the entire squad as a collective.’’

“We did hold a staff meeting and among the various issues we discussed were Cavani and his complaints.’’

He added:

“The desires of the individual can’t affect the rest of the team.’’

He concluded:

“I believe that he can score here but I understand if he wants to consider other career opportunities.”

Arsenal seem to be contented with their current strikers, especially due to the fact that the free-scoring Giroud has been in near-perfect form for the North Londoners. On the other hand, the Red Devils are expected to sign at least two forwards to boost their blunt attacking unit, and that is where Edinson Cavani comes in.
