Manchester United, despite boasting one of the world’s best goalkeepers in the form of David de Gea, are reportedly eying a move for 16-year-old shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
This is according to SportMediase, as per Goal, who claim that the Red Devils are willing to up their initially-planned bid for the AC Milan custodian to £30m in the summer.
Donnarumma has garnered attention and interest from several of Europe’s elite after a string of impressive performances for the Rossoneri, making 11 appearances for the Italian giants since his debut earlier this season.
AC Milan are rumored to be open to cashing in on their Italian goalie for the right price, with the intention of using that cash to sign PSG custodian Salvatore Sirigu, who has fallen out of favor at the Parc des Princes.
This is just one of a recent flux in goalkeepers that Louis Van Gaal’s crew have been linked with, with Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen reportedly being on the 20-time English Premier League champions’ radar.
What remains the important question is whether this is merely a move to provide backup, or even competition for De Gea, or whether Man United are preparing for life without the Spaniard.
Real Madrid’s desire to sign the former Atletico man is no kept secret, with Los Blancos coming achingly close to signing the 25-year-old in the summer transfer market.
The Liga BBVA giants’ interest in De Gea did not cease, though, as Real Madrid are rumored to still be keen on the Man United goalkeeper.
