With 24 goals in 23 appearances this season, Wenger is confident that this striker will help end the Gunners' 12-year wait for the EPL title.

It has been years since a prolific center forward last graced Arsenal, with Robin van Persie's exit in 2012 beginning that run.

Fans have long been calling for Arsene Wenger to dive into the transfer market in order to spend big on a world-class striker who could help end their long wait for the English Premier League title.

The likes of Edinson Cavani, Karim Benzema, and Wayne Rooney in his heydays have been linked with an Emirates Stadium arrival, but could this finally be the month the Gunners sign a proven goalscorer?

According to British tabloid The Sun, Arsene Wenger’s crew are plotting a mega-money move for BVB goalscoring ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang worth a staggering £42m.

This report comes as little surprise, with the Gabonese forward enjoying a wonderful season with the Bundesliga giants, scoring 24 goals in 23 matches in all competitions, 18 in the German top-flight, the highest by any player this season.

The Sun claim that the Gunners, a club linked with Aubameyang prior to his Signal Iduna Park switch, has already made contact with Die Schwarzgelben over signing the 26-year-old.

Furthermore, the player is believed to have admitted to close friends his desire to play in the English top-flight.

“An intermediary has made contact with Dortmund about Pierre-Emerick making a move to Arsenal,” a source revealed, as per The Sun.

“Wenger knows the fee is very high — yet this is a striker who can make a massive difference for him and help win the title for the first time in 12 years.

“But there is a lot of interest in him.”

The reigning FA Cup champions, who embark on their title defense with a home clash with Sunderland, are not the only club interested in Aubameyang, with Chelsea, Liverpool, and Man United eyeing the former Saint-Etienne ace.

Arsenal, though, are believed to be in pole position to land the BVB striker should the German giants agree to sell their star striker, and have the cash to splash on the Gabonese ace.
