This will be Gary's first head coaching job after being a pundit with SkySports. His first game in charge of the team will be against Lyon.

Gary Neville has decided to leave his job as a pundit for SkySports as he will now become Valencia's new manager. The former Manchester United player will be taking on his first coaching job starting this Sunday, December 6. Neville will be replacing Nuno Espirito Santo who resigned this past Sunday.

The 40-year old analyst will be coaching his first game ever against Lyon next Wednesday. If his team is able to win that game, they will have secured a spot in the knockout stages of the Europa League. In La Liga, Neville will be working with a team that is currently ranked in ninth place with 19 points, 14 behind Barcelona.

Valencia made the official announcement this Wednesday

Valencia's president Lay Hoon Chan could not hide his excitement to have a Red Devil legend as the manager of his team. He was also glad that it did not take them too long to find a replacement for Espirito Santo who decided to step aside after losing to Sevilla 1-0 this past weekend.

"We are delighted to have secured Gary so quickly. He combines top-level coaching experience through his role as a senior coach with the England national team and a world-class playing career with England and Manchester United," Chan said in a statement.

Gary had nice words for his co-workers at Sky Sports

Neville will be reunited with his younger brother Phil in this new adventure. Phil is currently the assistant manager at the same club so it could be interesting to see how they work together leading a team that ended up in fourth place last season.

The two brothers will meet again

While Gary is known for bashing on the performances of many teams and players, he is excited to lead a team which he believes has a great potential to fight for La Liga top spots. He knows there is enough talent within the team to fight for higher positions than the one they are at right now.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be given this opportunity with Valencia. Valencia are a huge football club of immense standing and I know from my time as a player the passion and dedication of the Valencia fans".

England should count on Neville until the Euro 2016

Gary has also been working as the assistant manager with England, a job that he will continue to do as long as there are no scheduling conflicts. With England, he helps Roy Hodgson lead the Three Lions to a perfect undefeated streak in the Euro Qualifiers, winning all ten games.

"I am really looking forward to working with the club's talented group of players and am excited about the challenge ahead".

Neville only signed with Valencia for one season, which will make him the manager until next summer. The former SkySports pundit is a serious candidate to take over Roy Hodgson's job in England either after the Euro 2016 or the World Cup in 2018.
