Neymar also expressed his disappointment over the Uruguayan ace’s exclusion from the three-man shortlist, as the Brazilian ace, La Pulga, and Cristiano all made the cut.

Luis Suarez fans were left infuriated after the Uruguayan striker was excluded from FIFA’s Ballon d’Or three-man list despite his explosive debut season for the Blaugrana.

Although the former Liverpool striker missed the early portion of last season through a four-month football ban, he joined the the Catalan giants in the 2014/15 campaign to make 25 appearances in La Liga, scoring 16 and assisting 14.

This year alone, the 28-year-old has scored 40 goals in 52 games in all competitions, helping Luis Enrique’s crew lift four titles.

Many believe that Suarez should have made the three-man shortlist over finalist Cristiano Ronaldo, who despite winning last season’s Pichichi award and lifting a record 4th Golden Boot award, ended the season with Los Blancos trophy-less.

“I’d have liked to be on Ballon d'Or podium with Ney and Luis,” said Leo, as he was named La Liga’s best player and best striker of last season.

“Luis deserved it because of the season he had. You have to credit Cristiano as well, who also deserved it. We'll have a good time [at the Fifa gala].”

Fellow team-mate Neymar, who was named La Liga’s best American player of last campaign, followed suit, claiming that injustice was done upon Suarez by omitting him from the final three.

“Being nominated for the Ballon d'Or means a lot,” the Brazilian said.

“Suarez should have been there as well, though - but Messi is the favourite, he's the number one for me.”
