The talented Uruguayan is said to be frustrated by Laurent Blanc’s decision to play him wide, yet he is a central striker.

According to a report published on the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are allegedly in contact with the PSG man over a possible move to Old Trafford in January. Laurent Blanc’s decision to play Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a central striker and Cavani wide out of position this season seems to have angered the Uruguay international, who is well aware of the fact that Man United are in desperate need of a central striker.

A move to Old Trafford could mean that he will be the new central attacker at the English club, effectively relegating the out-of-form Rooney and inconsistent Martial to the assisting role on the pitch.

Edinson Cavani to Man United rumors

Cavani’s growing frustration at PSG was evident during his club’s 4-1 win over Troyes in Lique 1 last weekend when he was substituted. Speaking about the substitution, coach Blanc explained:

"Cavani wasn't very happy - I can confirm that.’’

But [players] are never happy [to be taken off] and I can understand that.’’

‘’If established players have no motivation, we will play young people. They will be happy to play, but I think the established players that I have are currently serious."

The lethal forward has scored eight goals in 11 appearances for PSG this season
