English Premier League giants Manchester United travel to the hostile King Power Stadium to face an ambitious and daring Leicester City in a match that will change the appearance of the top four teams on the log.

Leicester come into this fixture as the favourites due to their recent good form that has lifted them to the top of the Premier League standings. They face a Man United side that is only united at defending and scattered in attack. The away team is facing a major goal-scoring crisis and this was quite evident when they failed to beat their midweek opponents PSV Eindhoven at Old Trafford, despite creating numerous chances. The disappointing Champions League match aside, the Red Devils are now aware that any slump in their defense line this weekend or leniency in their attack could cost them an embarrassing defeat away from home.

A win for United will take them to the top of the EPL table, but if they lose, they risk dropping up to the fifth position on the log if Man City, Tottenham and Arsenal win their respective games.

But it is Leicester City who seem to have more reasons to win this match, judging from their most recent performances. The home side boasts of the lethal Jamie Vardy on their side, who is expected to set a Premier League record by scoring for the 11th game in a row.

The England international managed to match Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record by scoring his 10th consecutive league goal in the 3-0 victory over Newcastle United last weekend. He will be looking to extend his impressive form for the Foxes by retaining the first position on the table, something that will only be guaranteed by a win.

The other side of the pitch provides an out-of-form Rooney and a relaxed Anthony Martial. After releasing James Wilson on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this week, Luis Van Gaal now faces a major striking crisis and things could get worse when they visit Leicester this weekend. Almost every player at the Old Trafford-based side, except David De Gea, has been played out of position this season and there isn’t much room for further gambling in this crucial fixture.

Louis Van Gaal will be wary of the fact that his men are lined up to play against a team that has scored 48 goals so far, which is the highest in the league. However, United have only conceded one goal in their last seven league games and will hope to maintain the good defensive record against the Foxes. On the contrary, their attack is not worth writing home about.

Team news

Leicester City

Leicester’s lead man Vardy is suffering from a minor hip injury but that will not prevent him from featuring against United. Midfielder Matty James is expected to miss the epic clash due to a long-term new injury.

Manchester United

United will miss the services of Phil Jones and Ander Herrera due to ankle and hamstring injuries respectively. England international midfielder Michael Carrick is also doubtful for the clash as he is still recuperating from the ankle injury sustained during the international friendly against Spain. Other long-term absentees include Luke Shaw, who has a broken leg, and Antonio Valencia, who has  a foot injury.
