The England international was gearing up to face Bordeaux in their UEFA Europa League fixture for the first time under new manager Jurgen Klopp but was ruled out due to foot injury in the last minute. The Reds won the match 2-1 courtesy of goals from Milner and Benteke. Sturridge also suffered the same fate during the 2014/2015 season by missing out many games due to thigh injuries.
However, despite being a regular client at the club’s medical department, the former Chelsea and Manchester City man is always lethal in front of goal when he regains full fitness. This season, he has only played three games for Liverpool, but managed to score two goals. This is a clear indication how the talented forward can be deadly in front of goal on a normal, injury-free day.
On a lighter note, the news of his new injury was the subject of debate and ridicule on Twitter. Here are some of the top tweets.

Ironically, the injury-prone player has missed more games (70) due to injury compared to the games he has featured in (68) for the Merseyside club.
