Man City will be hoping to bounce back from what has been a disappointing week which has seen them suffer two consecutive defeats. To add insult to injury, the Citizens have been dethroned from the top of the table after their 4-1 humbling at the hands of Liverpool last week.
Southampton on the other hand are on a decent run and have tasted defeat just once in their last five outings which came at the hands of Stoke in their last fixture. Prior to their defeat, the Saints had recorded victories in four consecutive matches, a run they will be looking to reignite at the expense of Man City on Saturday.
Southampton however should be careful of a Manchester City side which has done remarkably well at home, especially on the attacking front. The Citizens have the best minutes per goal record among all the English Champions League playing clubs and average a goal every 32 minutes.
They have scored 27 goals in 13 league matches they have played so far which is second best to league leaders Leicester City who have recorded an impressive tally of 28 goals in league outings this season.
They however have a few injury concerns, the most recent of which is the hamstring problem suffered by Joe Hart during the Champions League match against Juventus. Caballero who has managed just 11 senior appearances since joining the club is however eager to impress.
"Always when you play badly or commit errors, you hope to play another game to put it behind you, to show that you are capable and that you deserve to be playing for an important team like City," he said.
"Hopefully that chance will come and I will be able to do that.
"Of course it is not good that Joe had to come off, but I have to be prepared – that is the life of a substitute goalkeeper. Next time I am needed to play 15 or 20 minutes I will be ready, whenever that might be, but of course we hope that Joe recovers.
Man City will further be without captain Vincent Kompany who continues to nurse his calf injury as well as Samir Nasri who has a hamstring problem. Man City also have doubts over the likes of Wilfried Bony, Eliaquim Mangala, Pablo Zabaleta and David Silva.
Southampton will be without their leading goal scorer Graziano Pelle who misses through suspension whereas Fraser Forster, Florin Gardos and Jay Rodriguez will also remain on the sidelines.
