Real Madrid's Portuguese striker was snubbed by UEFA's officers despite being involved in all of Los Blancos' goals against Shakhtar last Wednesday.

The UEFA Champions League Twitter feed revealed Matchday 5's Team of the Week, including players such as Lionel Messi, Alexis Sanchez, Antoine Griezmann and Chelsea's midfielder Willian. Among those who were snubbed were Cristiano Ronaldo, Mexican striker Raúl Jiménez, and Ángel Di Maria, even after each player scored a brace in their respective games.

Messi's two-month absence ended last Saturday against Real Madrid, but his return to the Starting XI was something for the ages, scoring a brace and adding up another assist to his statistics. Just like Messi, Alexis' display against Dinamo Zagreb saw him contribute two goals and one assits for the Gunners' cause, keeping their hopes alive. Meanwhile, Antoine Griezmann scored both of Atletico's goals against Galatasaray, helping Atletico qualify for the knockout stage.

Other players included were Premier League center backs Gary Cahill (Chelsea) and Marcos Rojo (Manchester United), while Genk's goalkeeper Matz Sels surprised everyone during his side's win against Lyon.
