Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pulled one back for the visitors but it was too late to stage a comeback. Manager Thomas Tuchel has expressed his dissatisfaction with his side's performance claiming that they deserved to be punished.
"The first half was dramatically different to how we want to play, what we demand of ourselves," he said.
"We deserved to be punished.
"We started carelessly. With this body language, this performance, we won't win anything anywhere."
Defender Marcel Schmeltzer expressed opinions similar to his manager and urged his teammates to show a higher level of commitment.
"It was a lesson," he said. "If you are not 100 per cent, you can't win in the Bundesliga."
With qualification to the next round already secured, Tuchel is expected to shuffle things around. Adnan Januzaj who has failed to cement a place in the starting eleven is poised for a starting role during Thursday's outing. The Belgian has made two starts and one substitute appearance in the Europa League so far and will be keen to make an impression.
However they will be against a Krasnodar side which has won all its four European home fixtures this season. After suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Dortmund in the reverse fixture, the Russian side has managed to record two wins and a draw which leaves them three points behind group leaders Dortmund.
They now need a single win from their last two games to ensure progression to the next round. Prior to their 3-2 defeat at the hands of Spartak Moscow last time out, Krasnodar had been on a five game winning streak a run they will be looking to revive on Thursday.
