It seems the spirit of Lionel Messi will live for many years even after the Argentine leaves the Spanish club.

In what is widely seen as one of the best goals from Barcelona’s under-19 squad in the recent weeks, Carles Alena was on the score sheet against AS Roma in the UEFA Youth League. The junior Catalan picked up the ball inside Roma’s half, dribbled past five defenders and calmly slotted the ball home past the helpless Roma goalkeeper.

Coincidentally, Alena wears the number 10 jersey, same as Lionel Messi and the legendary Diego Maradona.

The left-footed player plays in almost every position on the pitch; from attack, midfield to defence. He is also powerful in the air and loves to score with long-range shots. In the last few years, the Spaniard has been on the radar of top English sides such as Manchester City, Chelsea and most recently, Arsenal.

He emerged the star player at the Torneo de Estepona in 2010 when the Blaugrana beat Los Blancos on post-match penalties. In the tournament, he also scored six goals and bagged the Player of the Tournament award.
