The Real Madrid legend believes that the Brazil captain has surpassed both Messi and Cristiano in the last four months.

Given that these remarks were made by a Real Madrid player, it speaks volumes. But then again, there is the Selecao connection.

According to Los Blancos legend Roberto Carlos, no player impresses the world nowadays as Barcelona superstar Neymar does.

The 42-year-old former Brazilian full-back made these remarks after his 23-year-old compatriot’s electric display in the Blaugrana’s 4-0 thrashing of Real Madrid in El Clasico, last Saturday.

Despite Luis Suarez scoring a brace, the former Santos ace played a key role in the Santiago Bernabeu victory, scoring once and setting up two en route to three precious points and bragging rights.

The Barcelona attacker is also the league’s top scorer, having found the net 12 times in 12 Liga BBVA matches, scoring 14 in all competitions, 11 of those coming after Messi’s injury back in September.

Roberto Carlos, however, does not believe that having the most impressive player in the world and winning El Clasico makes the Catalan giants the best team.

“Barcelona winning against Real Madrid doesn't mean they are the best in the world,” he said, ahead of Luis Enrique's crew's clash with Roma in the Champions League.

Neymar, Barcelona, La Liga

“At the moment, they do have amazing players, though - [Luis] Suarez, Neymar, [Lionel] Messi, [Andres] Iniesta…

“But Neymar is the player that most impresses the world nowadays.

“Messi will always be number one and the same goes for Cristiano [Ronaldo], but at the moment, during the last three or four months, Neymar has been absolutely amazing - we have to applaud him because he is spectacular.”

Neymar’s recent exploits has elevated talks of him sweeping up the 2015 Ballon d’Or award, though Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi remain favorites to claim the prize.

Nonetheless, the Brazil captain has raised his status, and is now widely recognized as one of the best players out there.
