The Spanish midfielder has been rumored to be leaving Bayern Munich next summer, but Jürgen Klopp wants to sign him during the upcoming transfer window.

Jürgen Klopp wants to add a familiar face to Liverpool's lineup as soon as possible, and Xabi Alonso may be the one to fill that gap with the Reds. Sources indicate that the Bayern Munich midfielder could stage an epic comeback in January, following his five-year stint with the club. Alonso was key to the team's UEFA Champions League win in 2005, and his departure years ago to join Real Madrid left most fans with a broken heart. Apparently, Klopp wants a respectable figure to lead the team's midfield, and Alonso fits the bill just fine.

Alonso's contract with Bayern ends next summer, and The Bavarians would be interested in cashing in before the player decides where he wants to continue playing. If a deal isn't reached during the upcoming transfer window, Alonso might end up joining the Reds next summer.

Alonso celebrates Liverpool's UCL victory alongside Steven Gerrard.

Alonso has played for Real Sociedad, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich during his 16-year career. Added to his Champions League victory with the Reds, the Basque player won another Champions League with Los Blancos in 2014. Furthermore, he was part of the Spanish National Team that won the 2008 and 2012 European championships, capped by the 2010 World Cup win against The Netherlands.
