Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho claims Barcelona forward Neymar Jr. is the best player in the world, based on his current form for the Spanish club.

Ronaldinho’s revelations come at a time when Barca are gearing up for an epic encounter against their rivals Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday. The two star players played alongside each other briefly for the Brazilian national team.

Speaking to ESPN, the two-time World Player of The Year revealed:

"Neymar, currently on form, is the best player in the world."

"His rise has not surprised me at all. Even when he was a kid his ability was obvious. At the age he is, I still have every belief he can go on to get better and better.’’

"Now he has reached the level of the best in the world, he can stay there for five or six years, comfortably."

Neymar has been instrumental for the Catalans ever since their star player Lionel Messi picked up an injury against Las Palmas two months ago. In Leo’s absence, the young Brazilian has scored 10 goals and provided six assists in ten games for Barcelona.

Earlier this year, Luis Suarez had labelled the 23-year-old as the second-best player in the world, behind Lionel Messi. However, with the six-month absence of the deadly Argentine, Neymar has instrumental for Barcelona, hence making it easier for the Spanish club to rise to the top of the La Liga table.

Gaucho, who also played for Barcelona, went ahead to state that the youngster could succeed in any league across the world. Earlier this week, Neymar’s father claimed that his son’s future in Spain is in doubt due to the recent tax problems facing the former Santos man.

There have been several reports linking the youngster with a possible move to England, particularly Manchester United or Chelsea.
