Liverpool fans had high hopes of seeing Samir Nasri back on the field this weekend against Liverpool but those hopes quickly vanished when the 28-year old midfileder posted a picture on social media of him using crutches. Now the French player expects to be out for another three months before playing again.
Nasri has missed five Premier League games with the injury and three Champions League matches with the same problem. Team doctors had done everything in their power to bring him back in time for Saturday's game but now a picture posted by Nasri on social media shows that it won't be possible.
The former Arsenal player appeared in crutches and telling fans that he hopes to be back stronger after an absence that will be longer than he expected. The message also pointed out that it will take him three more months to be back playing for Manchester City.
Nasri joined the Citizens in 2011 and his current contract does not expire until 2019. He has played 150 games with Manuel Pellegrini's team and scored 26 goals in the process of doing so. Aside from the injury problems, the arrival of Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling have complicated his playing time this season.
The French veteran has only made one start this EPL season and it was against Crystal Palace, a game which Manchester City won 0-1 with an assist from him. He also started in his only Champions League game against Juventus, where he was used as a right wing and his team lost 1-2.
This picture confirmed that Nasri won't be back anytime soon
