Even Mexico's doctors had to help out during the game. Javier Aquino has already apologized for the accident.

Luis Garrido will have to wait one year to be back on the pitch after suffering a horrible ACL injury in the game between Honduras and Mexico as part of the World Cup Qualifiers to Russia 2018. In the 38th minute of the game at San Pedro Sula's Estadio Olimpico, Javier Aquino fell on Garrido's leg and it twisted completely.

It was a very physical game just as it was expected, but no one could forsee what happened to Garrido even before the first half was over. Garrido had played 33 games with his national team up until this game. The 25-year old midfielder has been a midfielder for Houston Dynamo since the summer of 2014.

Now, Garrido face a long road to recovery. As soon as the injury happened, doctors from both teams were allowed to rush into the field. Honduras' team doctor, Oscar Benitez was thankful for the cooperation from his mexican colleagues. He claims that without their help, things could have been worst.

"Garrido suffered a dislocation [of his right knee] and damaged four ligaments," Benitez said after the game in which Mexico would end up winning 2-0.

On Tuesday night, Javier Aquino sent Garrido an appology for the incident. Aquino had been pushed by a player from Honduras. The injured player seemed to be in good spirits telling the mexican midfielder that he had nothing to worry about as it was only an accident and thanked him for the kind gesture.
