Two international friendlies have been cancelled since the Paris attacks. There will be over 1,500 police officers on duty during the game.

Keep calm, El Clasico will not be cancelled. That was what Spanish Interior Minister Jorge Fernández Díaz preached this Wednesday morning to the media. El Clasico should be played at the time and place that it is scheduled to be played in but the main difference will be a tighter security implementation.

El Clasico is scheduled for Saturday, November 21 at 18:15 local Madrid time at the Santiago Bernabeu and that is when and where this important match will be played. Ever since the Paris attacks last Friday, two international games have been cancelled.

First the game between Belgium and Spain was called off one day before it was scheduled due to a high terror threat. On Tuesday, the match between Germany and the Netherlands was also cancelled becuase of a suspicious package that was found around the stadium. Fans had to be evacuated from the venue in Hannover.

Madrid's police has set up a special security operation that will be in effect starting Thursday

"We're preparing an extremely intense security operation for obvious reasons, but at this point there is no objective reason to call off the game," Díaz said about the possibility of cancelling the game. "Categorically no, not at this stage".

For this game, Madrid's police will carry out their usual maximum alert, zero-tolerance tactics and everything under control tactics, but with a beefed-up security system. The perimeters of the stadium will be searched on the days before El Clasico and continue up until the day of the game. 1,500 police officers will be in hand during the game. Madrid's police has kept the Santiago Bernabeu incident-free for the last few years.

Authorities want fans with tickets to arrive early. No ticket, stay at home.

Fans that wish to go into the stadium will be searched before the reach the gates. Purses and even sandwiches will be inspected before spectators go find their seats. Díaz told the press that similar measures will also be taken for the Champions League game between Barcelona and Roma next week.
