The German midfielder would be one of La Vecchia Signora's targets in the upcoming transfer window, but the Gunners will not make it easy for them.

Mesut Özil's season with Arsenal has not gone unnoticed, and a couple of top clubs want to lure him away from the Gunners as soon as possible. Being more specific, sources indicate that struggling Serie A champions Juventus are really interested in signing the former Real Madrid midfielder, but the Gunners are ready to fight for the player's services.

Sources indicate that Juventus will make a bid to sign Özil during the upcoming transfer window, since they have struggled all season long to replace Andrea Pirlo in the team's midfield. The only setback for this deal to happen would be that Özil would not be able to play UEFA Champions League matches with the bianconeri, as he has played Arsenal's four group stage matches.

But before Juventus can even think about luring the German midfielder away, Arsene Wenger will offer the World Champion a contract extension, with a salary increase to go with it. Özil's current deal with the Gunners expires at the end of the 2016-2017 season, and Wenger's offer would add a couple of years to it.

Mesut's skills have proven to be quite useful for Arsenal this season, leading them to a league-leading 26 ponts.

After the Gunners' impressive start of the season, the team's front office has already agreed to extend Theo Walcott's and Santi Cazorla's contracts, making Özil and Alexis Sánchez the next players in line for an extension.
