Manchester United boss Luis Van Gaal is said to be interested in the services of Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez.

According to reports from England, the Red Devils are willing to prepare as much as £53 million for the Arsenal sensation. The former Barcelona superstar was previously linked to a move to Real Madrid but is no longer interested in the deal for fear of betraying his old club.

The Daily Star newspaper reports that Sanchez considers a move to Old Trafford ''a big step in his professional career’’ and Van Gaal has already alerted him ahead of a possible move. If the deal goes through, Arsene Wenger’s plans of winning the league this season will suffer a major blow. Sanchez has undoubtedly changed the club’s winning fortune for the better ever since he arrived in London.

He joined the Gunners for £35 million in 2014 and has since become one of the top talents in the Premier League. Earlier on, there were rumours that Real Madrid wanted him to leave Barcelona and join Arsenal, and then import him to the Santiago Bernabeu from England, since they couldn't buy him directly from bitter rivals Barcelona. However, Sanchez seemed to have changed his mind about playing for his old club’s rivals in an image-tarnishing move that would amount to betrayal.

At Arsenal, the 26-year-old has featured 47 times and scored 22 goals so far. He will be remembered by Man United fans for his sterling performance at the Emirates Stadium on October 4, 2015 when Arsenal whipped Van Gaal’s men 3-0.

Meanwhile, United have also been linked with a possible move for Bayern Munich winger, Arjen Robben, who is reportedly unhappy at the Allianz Arena after a fallout with star player Lewandowski.

The Poland international recently revealed that the 31-year-old Dutchman is ''selfish’’ with the ball. The long-time Man United target could leave the Bavarians and join his former team mate Bastian Schweinsteiger at Old Trafford in January.
