Two South American soccer giants Uruguay and Chile are set to lock horns in their 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier fixture.

Uruguay come into this match after the defeat to Ecuador and will be hoping to bounce back and register good results against their rivals Chile on Tuesday. The La Celeste occupy the third place on the 10 team table with a total of six points after two wins and one loss in their last three fixtures.

The home side beat Bolivia 2-0 away and thrashed Colombia 3-0 at home courtesy of goals from Diego Godin, Diego Rolan and Abel Hernandez. However, when they faced Ecuador at the Estadio Olimipico Atahualpa, the two-time FIFA World Cup winners lost 2-1.

Chile have also failed to make three consecutive wins in the group so far but they are unbeaten in their last three matches. They have won two and drawn one, thus sitting one point above their Tuesday opponents. They beat Brazil and Peru but failed to beat Colombia at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martinez Pradanos on Thursday. Arturo Vidal put the home side in front by half-time but Real Madrid forward James Rodriguez equalized for Colombia in the 68th minute to end the game in a one-all draw.

The two sides last met in June during the quarter-finals of the Copa America tournament when Chile won by a solitary goal from Mauricio Isla. During the high profile match, Uruguayan star Edinson Cavani was sent off for reacting to Gonzalo Jara, who poked his finger up his bottom. Tuesday’s match will be played at the Estadio Centernario and could offer the perfect revenge date for the two sides who still have a grudge against each other, especially after Cavani's ''unfair'' send-off.
