The Argentine wingman doesn't regret leaving Los Blancos after winning the UEFA Champions League, following a tense relationship with then-coach Carlo Ancelotti and president Florentino Perez

Even though he has always expressed his love for Real Madrid, Angel Di Maria blasted Los Blancos in a recent interview, feeling no regrets about leaving the club. According to the Argentine wingman, the Spanish giants have missed him more than they can imagine, since the club failed to win any major trophies once he left prior to the 2014-2015 season.

"After winning ‘La Décima’ my mind was set on staying at Real Madrid for many more years, but these things happen in football. Since I left Real Madrid haven’t won anything. In any case, I think that I left at the right time and the right way," Di Maria stated.

"El Fideo" was key for Los Blancos' 4-1 overtime victory against Atletico to win the team's 10th-ever Champions League trophy.

Angel Di Maria's stint with the Spanish giants ended abruptly before the start of the 2014-2015 season. Sources indicate his relationship with Florentino Perez was deteriorated after he requested a wage increase, which the team was not ready to provide. Di Maria then forced his way out of the club, joining Manchester United for a record fee. But things did not work out for "DiMa", as he left the Red Devils just after one season.

Nevertheless, the player still keeps the city close to his heart, given a series of events that he will never forget.

"I have great memories of Madrid. Leaving aside footballing matters, my daughter was born while I was there and they saved her life in Spain. I’m never going to forget what I experienced there," the player added.

Di Maria recently returned with his current team, Paris Saint-Germain, to play at Santiago Bernabeu stadium. Los Blancos won that match 1-0, but Di Maria left testimony of his skills on the pitch.
