The former Juventus, Inter and Milan striker insists that he is in debt to the Italian top-flight, having launched his career.

Despite having played in the Eredivise, La Liga, and Ligue 1, where he currently plies his trade, PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic hailed Serie A as “the best league in the world”.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 34-year-old superstar, who was crowned Sweden’s Footballer of the Year for a staggering 10th time in his career, admitted that for him, no league trumps the Italian top-flight.

The Swedish talisman spent 8 years in Italy with the nation’s three biggest sides: Juventus, Inter Milan, and AC Milan, winning numerous accolades from 2004 to 2012, minus the one year spent at Barcelona.

“Serie A is the place where I became famous with Juventus,” said the Parisiens ace.

“At Ajax I wasn’t an international star yet. Everything changed at the Bianconeri: the world opened its eyes and saw me.

“Apart from the year at Barcelona, I played and lived in Italy from 2004 to 2012.

“I won the title with the three biggest clubs, Juventus, Inter and Milan. I became top scorer, I was chosen as best player.

“For me it remains the best league in the world. And also it’s the most difficult for a striker, because they think firstly about not conceding goals and then about making them.”

Zlatan won several accolades whilst at Juve, Inter, and Milan, before leaving Serie A for France in 2012

Zlatan, who at 34 is drawing ever closer to retirement, will be hoping for one more shot at winning silverware with his national side in the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament.

Having narrowly missed a place in the 2014 World Cup, Ibrahimovic and Co. will lock horns with fellow Scandinavian nation Denmark, led by Lord Nicklas Bendtner, in the Euro 2016 playoffs, with a ticket to France at stake.

Zlatan, who is both Sweden’s and PSG’s all-time record goalscorer, will guide his nation against Morten Olsen’s crew on Saturday, November 14.
