England travel to Spain to face the European giants for a friendly match that will be played at the Rico Perez Stadium in Alicanto on Friday 13, November.

The Three Lions approach this fixture as part of their preparations for the Euro 2016. Roy Hodgson’s side has already qualified for the Euro 2016 after thrashing San Marino 6-0. England’s last meeting with Spain was back in 2011 at the Wembley Stadium when the host nation beat the visiting side by a solitary goal. However, their last trip to Spain was back in 2009 when they lost 2-0 in Seville. The La Roja have started bouncing back after their embarrassing and unsuccessful attempt to defend their World Cup title in Brazil.

Meanwhile the high-profile match was initially scheduled to be played at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium but the Spanish Football Federation decided to move it to the coastal town of Alicante. This came after an earlier incident when a section of Real Madrid fans booed Spanish defender Gerard Pique for his comments about Cristiano Ronaldo when Barcelona won the league. The booing occurred during Spain’s 2-0 win over Slovakia. Speaking during their title celebrations, the 28-year-old husband to famous Columbian pop star Shakira joked:

''Thanks to the staff, to the team-mates... and to Kevin Roldan, he started all this!''

He was referring to Ronaldo’s ill-advised birthday celebrations with Colombian singer Kevin Roldan hours after  the Los Blancos lost 4-0 to their bitter rivals Atletico Madrid.’’
