Atletico Madrid defender Ujfalusi has received harsh criticism from the public following his dreadful tackle on Lionel Messi. The picture tells it all...
However, club President Enrique Cerezo has appealed for a better treatment of the guilty defender. Although it appears to be terrible on the picture, Atletico Madrid’s president Enrique Cerezo has insisted that guilty defender Tomas Ujfalusi didn’t injure Lionel Messi with intent.

As he tried to calm things down, Cerezo explained while speaking to Spanish media Marca:

“It was a normal input in the box, and we all threw our hands to our heads when we saw the red card because we didn’t think the tackle was that bad. Replays show that you could think more about decision, though.

“But, I don’t think the player [Ujfalusi] intended this. I can assure you that Ujfalusi is a noble character, both on and off the pitch. The red card was also his second only.

“I’m very glad that the injury [on Lionel Messi] isn’t that bad, but no-one should think that there was malicious intent there.”

Whether Tomas Ujfalusi tackled Lionel Messi maliciously or not, the public won’t stop thinking that the Atletico Madrid defender exposed nothing but unprofessionalism during his poor challenge on his opponent. For Barcelona fans, it is a miracle that Lionel Messi’s injury won’t keep the player out for so long – especially considering the manner how his ankle got twisted just as if it was made of rubber.
