Qatar hosts Turkey in one of the many international friendlies lined up for this weekend. The Middle Eastern country resumed training at the Aspire Academy under coach Daniel Carreno.

The friendly match with Turkey comes just four days before the host nation plays Bhutan in their 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup joint qualifying match. In the first leg of the international tournament, Qatar beat Bhutan 15-0 in Doha back in September. The Al Anabi have not lost a match in Group C so far.

Meanwhile, their Turkish opponents are expected to land in Doha on November 11 for the friendly match will be played at the Lekhwiya Stadium. Coach Carreno has named a strong 25-man squad that includes the likes of star Striker Khalfan Ibrahim, Claude Amin, Abdul Karim Hassan and Mohammed Meshal Abdullah.

Following their recent good run that saw them win four matches in a row against China, Bhutan, Hong Kong and Maldives, Qatar have risen seven places up the FIFA Rankings. They are now placed at position 85 from 92 with a total of 365 points.

Qatar will be the first Arab country to host the FIFA World Cup tournament which includes a total of 32 national teams. This will also be the first World Cup that will not be hosted in June or July. The tournament will kick off in late November, and the finals held on 18th December.
