It was all fun and cheers when Chelsea obtained their fifth franchise title last summer. Jose Mourinho was clearly a fan favorite winning another title with the London club only two seasons after his comeback. 12 games into the 2015-2016 season, things are far from pretty for Chelsea who lost 0-1 against Stoke City.
It is their seventh loss this season and one that should worry Chelsea officials. The team that was the best in England last year, is one of the four worst sides this year, finding itself in 16th place with almost no chance to reclaim the title by the end of the year. Their main concern this time is to avoid relegation.

They are currently only three points ahead of Bournemouth, one of the three teams in that area. With 11 points so far, Chelsea has been off to its worst start in more than 30 years. The last time that Chelsea had lost the same amount of games (7), happened in 1978-79 where they ended up being relegated.
Despite the bad memories that the current situation in which the Blues are in, the owner of the team, Roman Abramovich, is determined to keep the Special One in charge. Abramovich had just offered Mourinho a four-year contract extension before the season started.

The Special One has been really clear in the last few weeks that under no circumstances he would be the one making the decision to leave. The club would be the one to make the decision for him. Chelsea does not seem eager to pay Mourinho the £9.5m in his buy-out clause.

With the International break upon us, the Premier League reigning champion has a lot of thinking to do. They are in a situation that had never been experienced under the current management. Not qualifying to the next Champions League tournament could cost the club £40 million among other large sums of money for the huge disaster that this season is looking like so far.

While Mourinho was not at the bench this past Saturday, serving a one-game stadium ban for derogative comments against officials. The 52-year-old manager, arguably one of the best in the business, may be hitting a career low when he least expected it.

Chelsea was knocked out of the League Cup by Stoke in penalties. Right now, with the Premier League out of hand, their best bet would be to put most of their efforts into the Champions League. Right now the team has seven points after four games. They are in second place of Group G and fighting for a spot in the playoffs.
