Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid are set for yet another mouth-watering clash with their French counterparts PSG in what is seen by many as the biggest UEFA Champions League match on Tuesday.

Rafael Benitez’s side will be looking to open a comfortable lead at the top of Group A with a win against the French champions. The 10-time European champions will host Laurent Blanc’s side at the Santiago Bernabeu for a crucial tie that will determine the group leader. The Los Blancos have been consistent in their performance under new manager Rafael Benitez, and are yet to concede a goal in the Champions League. On the other side, PSG are unbeaten in all competitions and have an impressive defensive record. They have also not conceded a single goal in all group matches so far.

Team news

Real Madrid

Manager Rafael Benitez is set to welcome his top defenders Pepe and Sergio Ramos back to the starting line-up. The fitness level of midfielder Luka Modric and deadly forward Karim Benzema is still unclear but the two players could undergo a late test ahead of the crunch tie.

The two defenders could return for the Los Blancos against The Parisians

However, the Los Blancos will miss the services of their top shot-stopper Keylor Navas who has been the main man behind Madrid’s clean sheet this season so far. The Costa Rican goalkeeper picked up an injury last week but Kiko Casilla provides a near-perfect replacement in the goal post. The Spanish outfit will also play without Jamez Rodriguez and star player Gareth Bale.

Speaking about the fitness status of his current squad, the 55-year-old manager explained, "Rodriguez is on the list. That does not mean he starts. He lacks match fitness. Benzema, Bale and Arbeloa, who are not in the squad, lack the match confidence to have a role in such a high intensity game as this.’’

"The first thing we do is talk to the players and then the physios and doctors in order to get a precise view of the situation. If he says the player is ready to play then there is no problem."

Paris Saint Germain

The French champions will play without Javier Pastore and Marquinhos. The two South Americans have been ruled out due to illness. However, the away team will welcome back top defender David Luiz. The former Chelsea man suffered a knee injury during the international break consequently missing the last four games for his current club.
