Five of Barcelona's stars interrupted Getafe's post-match press conference. The Catalan side had just won 2-0 and is tied with Real Madrid in the lead.
Some of Barcelona's players took their post-match victory celebration a little bit too far when they interrupted Getafe's press conference and now the club is apologizing for it. After a 2-0 victory that has the Catalan side tied with Real Madrid at the top of the standings, most headlines have been about what happened after the game.

Alfonso Perez and Victor Rodriguez were giving their post-match comments to the media after the game when suddenly some strange noises distracted the players and the reporters in the room. Moments later, five Barcelona players in Halloween costumes appeared and exited the room just a few seconds later.

The damage was done. Even though the incident did not last more than 30 seconds altogether, the players had caused such a stir that the press conference was cancelled. While the players involved were not recognized right after, some posts in Barcelona's social media platforms cleared the scenario.

Neymar, Gerard Pique, Luis Suarez, Marc Bartra and Jordi Alba were the players involved in what they initially saw as a simple prank. The initial reaction of Getafe's players was a laugh, but the club wanted an explanation and an apology from Barcelona and the players involved.

Excerpts from Barcelona's statement regarding the Halloween prank

"In light of the reaction provoked by our actions, which were carried out with the purpose of celebrating a good win and the team’s good form, while also coinciding with Halloween, FC Barcelona’s first team squad would like to manifest that:

"1. - In no case was it our intention to offend or annoy any of our colleagues from Getafe.

"2. - The invasion in the mixed zone coincided with Victor Rodriguez’s press conference and was an unfortunate coincidence, for which we personally apologised and expressed our respect. The images captured at that moment demonstrate that a player clearly said: “Where are we going? We have made a mistake [entering the press conference].”

"3. - The squad is aware of the responsibility that comes with being an FC Barcelona player and wants to apologise to anyone who feels offended, especially members of Getafe’s team and their fans. Our behaviour is also un-waiverable with the members and supporters of FC Barcelona, who should be proud of this team off the pitch, as well as on it."

Getafe's Mehdi Lacen was quick to voice what he though about the incident. The midfielder was not surprised one bit by what a team like Barcelona did.

"I'm nobody to give my opinion. I don't think it's correct. Everyone is responsible for what they do. I don't have much else to say," Lacen said. "If we won in the Camp Nou we would not do it. It's something personal, I don't know if it's something they would have planned and I don't want to go into that game," he said.

Barcelona really enjoyed the Halloween spirit

At one point, reporters in the media room could hear one of the players saying they had entered the wrong room. Apparently, that was the moment when all of the players involved in the prank turned around and left the room escorted by security officials.
