The Blues are considering parting ways with the striker in order to make way for the French wingman, one of the best players in La Liga for the past two seasons.

With Chelsea's season looking more like the Titanic as each game goes by, steps have to be taken to shake things up for them, and apparently, not all of the key elements to their recent title would have their job secured in the upcoming months. In fact, one of those changes could involve Diego Costa, who could be involved in a switch to La Liga, but not with his previous employers.

Sources indicate that the Brazilian born player could join Barcelona during January's transfer window, making himself available for a desperate Blaugrana side who needs a reliable backup striker to help Luis Suárez, Messi and Neymar up front. The player's agent, Jorge Mendes, wants to bring Costa back to Spain, considering he hasn't shown his best form this year, added to his disciplinary problems that have seen him banned repeatedly since last year.

Reports from Spain suggest that Costa feels homesick, even stating he was on the verge of asking to be released at the end of last season, so he could return to Spain.

But in order to boost the Blues' chances of bouncing back to European tournament spots, Roman Abramovich could be keen on signing French wingman Antoine Griezmann, one of the most talented and effective players in La Liga. The former Real Sociedad player exploded last year with Simeone's crew, becoming one of the best strikers in Atletico Madrid's history.

Griezmann's stats quickly made him one of Atletico's most beloved players, something that Chelsea could use right now.

Griezmann's signing could mean the end of Hazard's stint with the Blues?

Although both players share the same position, Hazard's future with the current EPL champions wouldn't be in doubt, mostly because some of his potential buyers are not interested in signing him. Real Madrid, who seemed to be in line to sign him, are currently overbooked with talent, given that Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and even homegrown Jesé can play where he usually displays his talent.

Hazard missed the final penalty for Chelsea on Tuesday, ending the Blues' Capital One Cup title defense against Stoke City.

Diego Costa: Would he be a good fit for Barça?

The Brazilian-born striker showed his best form with Los Colchoneros, where he became a key member of Simeone's brawling team that won La Liga and fell two minutes short of winning the UEFA Champions League against Real Madrid. Even if he was handed a super-sub role, Costa could prove quite useful for Los Blaugranas, given his physical style of playing. Furthermore, Barcelona's attacking skills could benefit from his presence, providing a good alternative for coach Luis Enrique.

Costa scored 47 goals for Los Colchoneros in all tournaments during his two-year stint with Simeone's crew.

While Griezmann's future has been linked to a move to the EPL for quite some time, and with Costa seemingly desperate to return to La Liga, a possible switch for them could be interesting to witness. Nevertheless, only time will tell if both players will end up swapping shirts before this season comes to a close.
