Mesut Özil is slowly silencing his haters, as he was crucial for Arsenal's 2-1 win over Everton on Saturday evening. The German midfielder assisted Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny today, leading the Gunners to the EPL's first place, waiting for tomorrow's Manchester derby between Manchester City and Manchester United.
With both assists, Özil confirmed his top class contribution to all his teams, trailing only Lionel Messi as the player with the most assists in the past seven years.
Arsenal's success has to be credited to Özil, as he played a key part in both of the team's victories this week. On Tuesday, the German bagged his team's second goal against Bayern, and his show today confirmed his good form.
The Gunners also managed to keep their net intact during the second half thanks to a well-placed defense, where Gabriel, Koscielny, and goalkeeper Petr Cech cleared all of Everton's chances to equalize.
Fans had a blast praising their hero of the day, and here are some of their best comments.
Mesut Özil has the best games per assist rate in Premier League history - on average one every 2.71 matches. (minimum 20 assists).
