Jurgen Klopp is set to take charge of his first home match as manager of Liverpool as the Reds take on Russian outfit Rubin Kazan. The German kicked start life in the Premier League with a less than impressive showing as Liverpool failed to create an impression on the attacking front against Spurs, with the match finishing in a stalemate.

However the former Borussia Dortmund manager did indicate how he wants to run the club which is reminiscent of his tactics at former clubs Dortmund and Mainz. Liverpool players were seen tirelessly running around the pitch and this was only the second time this season that the Tottenham side was out-run by an an opposition.

Klopp however claimed that he will not be using the same tactic for every game to ensure that his players do not wear out. He however did encourage his players to adjust to a higher tempo game.

"It's a misunderstanding that has been there throughout my career. People always ask me if it's possible to play this kind of football. When I started at Mainz, they asked me each week. When I went to Dortmund, they asked me every three days," he said.

"The thing is that you don't have to play like this for 90 minutes. The way to learn is to start like this. But if you have the ball, you don't have to run like crazy.

"If you get a better feel for this kind of defending, it's the start.

"We need to have a plan, and that's what we are trying. We don't have to run 150km in a game to be successful. But we have to be prepared for each way we want to play.

"That's what we did. There's all this talk about whether we can do this every day. We need healthy players. But we don't kill the players.

"We train with them. They have the confidence and the skills to do this, because they are young and healthy.

Just like Liverpool, Rubin Kazan have also changed their coach since the group stage draw, having begun the season in dismal manner.  Rubin are currently 12th in the league table, with just a single point separating them from the relegation zone. They will be lifted by a 3-1 win over Ufa last time out however Sergey Kislyak who scored in that will miss the subsequent outing through suspension.

Liverpool will be without a host of players with all of Danny Ings (knee), Roberto Firmino (back), Jordan Rossiter (hamstring), Joe Gomez (knee) and Henderson (foot) ruled out of the match.

Dejan Lovren could however make a return to the squad, strikers Christian Benteke and Daniel Sturridge are on the other hand doubtful for the match.
