On Sunday he will be playing against Manchester City as a 30-year old. Rooney has been playing with Manchester United since he was 18.

Wayne Rooney is already a legend for Manchester United and England while he is only 29-years old. The powerful striker will be turning 30 this upcoming Saturday. It means that this Wednesday against CSKA Moskva at Arena Khimki, Rooney will be playing his last game before his birthday in what has been an eventful year. Against Manchester City at Old Trafford, it will be his first game with a new number as his age.

Looking Back at 29

Wazza worked hard all last season along with his team to return to the Champions League. After 38-hard fought games, they finished in fourth place and were into Europe's prime club competition through a playoff series against Club Brugge, who they defeated 7-1 in the aggregate with three goals from Rooney.

The native of Liverpool, United Kingdom finished last season with 12 goals, finishing as the best striker for the Red Devils. His role was somewhat affected by the arrival of Radamel Falcao to the team after the World Cup. Also, they way Louis van Gal organized his new team had almost nothing to do with how David Moyes left it.

Rooney wants to be the best English player of all times

At the club level, Rooney is struggling to find his fire in the Premier League. The almost 30-year-old player has only found the back of the net twice in eight EPL games and none so far in the Champions League.

Where he has found most of his success this year has been in the European Qualifiers. 12 years after his debut with the Three Lions, Rooney has become England's all-time leading scorer with 50 goals, surpassing Sir Bobby Charlton's record (49).

As the captain of the team, he lead them to a perfect qualifying round, winning all ten games. Seven of the 31 goals scored by England were scored by Rooney. Only three of them came from open play and four from the penalty spot.

Now, Rooney wants to help his team continue to succeed in the Champions League. Right now, every team involved in Group B has three points and even the goal differential is the same for all teams (0). This could be a great time for Rooney to send-off 29 the best way he knows how, by scoring goals.

Looking Forward to 30

His first game as a 30-year old will be against current Premier League leaders Manchester City. The team of Manuel Pellegrini has 21 points and the Red Devils have 19, so the Citizens are withing striking distance.

Rooney has already made public some of his birthday wishes. He claims that he wants a sixth Premier League title, a second one in the Champions League and why not a European Championship. Only time will tell if this is only wishful thinking or if Rooney can make his dreams come true.
